King of Peranakan Food - Kapitan Chicken

Here is a dish that is not so spicy and so should be acceptable by folks throughout the world. The name of this cuisine is kapitan chicken, an legitimate Nyonya dish originated from Malaysia.
Some people believed the origin of the name chicken kapitan was dated back to the time when the Portuguese was settled in Melacca in the 15th century.During the government of Portuguese, the Portuguese conferred the name Kapitan (means captain) to the chief of the Chinese clan. it was said that the dish was named after the Kapitan of the Chinese clan.Since then, the descendent as a result of the intermarriage between the Chinese and Malay (called Peranakan) had perfect the recipe for chicken kapitan.Chicken kapitan is one of the popular Peranakan dishes that contains the title Kapitan, which basically means captain. Peranakans dish is also called Nyonya food as Nyonya means grandmother or Madam of the strait borned Chinese descendents

The greatest kapitan chicken can be found in Penang and Malaka which were colonized by the British and Portuguese from 15th to 19th centuries.Right here, the majority of the cuisine are always have a little local flavor, be it western or eastern cuisine. For example, kapitan chicken is based on a Malay curry dish but has been improved by the Chinese and cooked by using a unique set of herbs and spices.
